Boilers, heat pumps and air con from our base in east Leeds

Local Experts
Heating and cooling engineers based in the city
S.P Contractors are heating and air conditioning engineers based in Leeds. Our base is in LS15, on the east side of the city, so whether you need boiler installation in Leeds, a heat pump or air con for a bedroom that gets too hot, we're usually not far away.
Our accreditations cover all three. We're Gas Safe registered for boiler work, a Vaillant Approved installer and accredited with Worcester Bosch. For heat pumps we're MCS certified and RECC approved, and for air conditioning we're F-Gas certified.
What customers mention most in our Google reviews is how we leave their home: floors covered while we work, surfaces dusted and everything put back, and the new system explained before we go.
Leeds is home, but we also work in the towns around it, out as far as Horsforth and Wakefield. You can see every place we cover on our areas we cover page.
Boilers
A new boiler that suits the way your home is built
Leeds has every kind of home, and each one changes how a new boiler goes in. In the older terraces around Hyde Park, the boiler is often in a kitchen cupboard or the cellar, and where the flue can go depends on the yard, the back street and the house next door. The gas pipe may also be too narrow for a modern boiler. We check both at the survey, so there are no surprises on fitting day.
Converted mill flats bring their own limits. There may be only one wall the flue can go through, the condensate pipe needs a route to a drain, and the building's management may have rules about what goes on the outside. We look at all of this before we give you a price.
On the estates in Seacroft and similar family streets there's usually more room to choose. A combi suits a smaller household with one bathroom. A busier home with two bathrooms often does better with a system boiler and a hot water cylinder.
Sometimes a breakdown call ends with a new boiler rather than a repair, because the old one isn't worth fixing. We'll explain which makes more sense and why. Our boiler installation page explains how we size and fit a new boiler, and boiler replacement covers swapping out an old one. You can spread the cost with finance through TradeHelp, subject to status.
Heat pumps
Will a heat pump work in your Leeds home?
A heat pump needs space outside for its unit and, in most homes, room inside for a hot water cylinder. Semis and detached houses on the estates in Seacroft and on the edges of the city often have both, which makes them good candidates. A tight terrace near Hyde Park is harder. There may be no yard for the unit, and where it sits next to the neighbours needs careful thought.
As MCS certified heat pump installers, we can fit a system that qualifies for the government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, which is only paid when an MCS certified installer does the work. Before we recommend anything, we look at your radiators, your insulation and how your household uses hot water, then tell you plainly whether a heat pump will keep your home warm.
Our heat pump installation page explains how we size a system and choose where the outdoor unit goes.
Air conditioning
Air con for hot bedrooms, loft rooms and city flats
Top-floor flats in the city centre, loft conversions and south-facing bedrooms can all get uncomfortably warm in summer. A modern split system cools a room in summer and can warm it in winter, so it earns its place all year.
If you live in a flat, including a converted mill, check with the building's management before you go ahead, as the outdoor unit usually needs their permission and sometimes planning permission too. Air conditioning has to be fitted by F-Gas certified engineers because of the refrigerant it uses, and we are.
Our air conditioning installation page shows how we fit a system. If your air con has stopped cooling, is dripping water indoors or has started making new noises, our air conditioning repair page explains how we find the fault.
